The Associate Board of Directors was founded in 2016. We invite passionate engaged professionals who share our commitment to championing health equity in Sub-Saharan Africa to join! Together, we strive to raise awareness of the pressing health challenges confronting communities in the region, while spotlighting Amref’s transformative efforts to empower these communities and strengthen healthcare systems.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for engaged professionals who have a passion for our cause. Every ABD member will be expected to volunteer their time and expertise to us through:
- Advocacy and Networking: Use your professional networks and knowledge to advocate for Amref’s mission and goals. Connect Amref with potential partners, donors, and supporters.
- Committee Involvement: Serve on ABD’s committees, such as finance, governance, marketing, or fundraising. Contribute your skills and expertise to the specific areas where you can make the most impact.
- Fundraising: Actively participate in fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and organizing fundraising events. Help diversify Amref’s funding sources.
- Community Engagement: Represent the organization in the community and engage in outreach activities. Promote the organization’s mission and build relationships with stakeholders.
What do you gain from being on the ABD?
Amref Health Africa offers an environment where ABD members can deepen their understanding of international development, learn more about African health care, gain governance experience, and have a greater network of peers and established professionals interested in global poverty reduction. A member from the Board of Directors (BOD) will serve as a Board Liaison for the Council, and the Chair of the Council will be permitted to join the meetings of the BOD, enabling Council members more exposure to the experience and professionalism our BOD has.
